I am preparing some “new” works to hand off to the Seattle Art Museum and am finally getting the chance to print this image from the series Above Seattle. But I have run into some old tech issues and wonder if the work is ready for large format prime time viewing. Captured with an older camera, the work lacks a bit of sharpness and detail that I have come to expect from my newer cameras. The images look great small and on my website. But will they hold up as large prints? I guess we will find out. It is too bad I can’t recreate this image. Even if I could find a perfect winter evening with the city aglow and Mt. Rainier shining in all her glory, that curved ribbon of light is no longer there. The viaduct was torn down years ago and replaced with a underground tunnel. Without that little piece of light the image might lack a focal point that gives the photo some life in the gridded urban scene.
