Your plan for hiring scouts in Scotland sounds wise. I have only done that for assignment shoots, though one time in Yorkshire I hired a driver to tour us around the Dales looking for monastery ruins. I mostly did it because I didn’t want to drive a stick shift car on the left side of road. Plus, I knew he would know the area. It was a great day going to places I would have never found on our own. The countryside was gorgeous and he even took us to a small pub in a tiny village that he said was the oldest hatched roof pub in England. We had an amazing lunch there while sitting by a wood burning fireplace. The only downside was the poor driver, Garth had a nasty bug that he politely gave to me, and I was sick in bed back in London for a week, missing 3 shoots in the process. If I had only wore a mask… But it was worth it really and despite the nasty bug, I have fond memories of that day.
