Your travel stories made me a little homesick. I know I only lived in DC a few years, but it is not only where I really grew up and came of age, but it was there that I embarked on my journey with photography. I was naïve about it all and yet so excited by the possibilities. I have a very distinct memory of the day, the moment actually that I said to myself, let’s give this a shot and see where it goes. To this day, I can say I did some of my finest work in the naïve place. I have often said to folks that if I knew then what I know now, I would have been too intimidated to do what I did. But it seems when you are young, you think you can do anything. And I guess it worked out.
